The Dallas Cowboys are probably the most famous sports team in the in the World. The Dallas cowboys football club plays in the NFL (National Football League).  They started play in 1960 as and NFL expansion team.  Today they are known by their millions of fans as America’s team.   The Cowboys are the most respected team in the National Football League because of their success both on and off the Field.

Dallas cowboys a Winning History
Dallas, Texas, was awarded an NFL franchise on January 28, 1960. This was the start of what would become a sports dynasty. The Dallas Cowboys Football team, was first named the Dallas Steers, then the Dallas Rangers, and from then on they were branded with the nickname the Cowboys.  Of course like every great story the NFL expansion team didn’t get off to a very smooth start. The Washington Redskins (who would later become the biggest rivals or the Cowboys) had, for several decades, enjoyed a monopoly in the Southern States of the US.  They were of course not  ready to give up this monopoly without a fight.  The Cowboys first major victory came when the expansion team from Texas went out and bought the rights to the Redskins fight song, “Hail to the Redskins” . The Redskins owner quickly cried uncle  and the new expansion team came into being.

The Tom Landry Era…The Start of America’s Team
Tom Landry was hired as the first Dallas Cowboys coach of the the new team which ended their first season winless. The following year, the Cowboys selected Bob Lilly in their first NFL draft selection and in this year and low and behold  the Cowboys’ got their first of many victories. The improvement of Dallas Cowboys football continued and by 1966 they had their first winning season and their first playoff appearance.  This was the first of eight consecutive playoff appearances (which they would surpass with nine straight appearances in 1983). By the mid point of their first decade the Cowboys had become one of the powerful forces in the NFL this was proven when they sent no less than eight players to the Pro Bowl. This was the start of a 30 golden years where the Cowboys would show their dominance in the NFL and become America’s Team.

The Dallas Cowboys are “America’s Team”. Year after year their popularity soars. They are known the world over as a great National Football League franchise and as the team that is cheered on by “America’s Sweethearts”, the world famous Dallas Cowboy Cheerleaders. The Dallas Cowboys are a team in the NFL, also known as the National Football League.  The Cowboys are currently based in the city of Dallas/Fort Worth area in the north of State of Texas. They presently play their home game in the world famous Texas Stadium situated in Irving.   However they are moving out to a brand new stadium in Arlington Texas, which is nearby to their current team base.  Established in the early 1960’s as an expansion team, they are presently a proud member of the Eastern Division of the NFC, or the National Football Conference. The Dallas Cowboys are an extremely admired and exceptionally supported team having a huge fan support. This feature of the versatile team has provided them with the label of “America’s Team” which is a great compliment to the appreciation of their fans. The Dallas Cowboys have an astonishing record for winning the maximum number of uninterrupted games in front of their stadium full packed with people. This astounding streak consisted of a hundred and sixty jam-packed Texas Stadium dates where the home team won and developed their unbelievable fan support and also gathered a place in the history books.

The Dallas Cowboys are believed by many to be the most precious sports team on earth. They are estimated to have an  total value of about $1.5 billion but they are closely followed by other teams like The Washington Redskins, The New England Patriots of the National Football League as well. The Dallas Cowboys are also said to acquire stunning revenue of about $250 million each year making them most prosperous teams in the world. They are an incredible team with other historical feats like the most back-to-back title wins in the National Football League than any other team. Super bowls, a proud and extremely rich tradition in the National American Football or The NFL circuit, has the Dallas Cowboys with the maximum number of Super Bowl appearances and is also tied with the most number of Super Bowl victories with The San Francisco 49’ers and The Pittsburgh Steelers.

Interestingly, the establishment of this super successful team didn’t come that easily. Expected antagonism met the setting up of the Dallas Cowboys mainly from the Washington Redskins. This anticipated resistance was chiefly from the owner of the Washington Redskins, George Preston Marshall, as at that juncture of time his team enjoyed the right to be the only team representing the southern states of USA. This initial confrontation between the two teams paved the way for a historic rivalry, which continues even to this day, and they keep on butting heads together & provide audiences with spectacular matches whenever and wherever they meet. They had various names like “Dallas Steelers”, “Dallas Rangers” before settling down on the historic brand name of “Dallas Cowboys”. So, it is no wonder that the Dallas Cowboys are one of the most celebrated and most successful sports team in the world who are a model for many teams for their respective sporting fields around the world.
